Replacing fresh fruit with dried? Rethink the ratio.
While the nutritional value between fresh and dried fruit is comparable, there's one thing to keep in mind, and that is the process of dehydrating fruit increases its sugar and caloric content (by weight). It's a significant bump and can affect blood sugar and insulin.
So that means when you're opting for raisins over grapes, go for a little less than your usual handful to cut back on sugar.
