Lactose intolerant baby

My son has always had issues with gas and tummy aches since being born and he is now almost 11 months old. We got allergy testing done to see if he was allergic to milk or soy as we have tried so many formulas and nothing makes him happy except alimentum, which is making us broke.. the test came back negative saying he isn’t allergic to anything but is it possible for him to still have an intolerance? His pediatrician told us to try gentlease and he’s been on it for 5 days but he is miserable with gas, spitting up and terrible sleep.. what formulas helped you guys if your baby was intolerant? Or what did you do?

Re

My 1st had a sensitive stomach and especially to dairy. I used kirkland brand or happy baby formula and supplemented with oat milk as necessary. She is 3 now and her tummy is still sensitive to diary and certain foods (acids, fruit, and dairy). We also did happy baby oatmeal or earths best oatmeal to settle her stomach. Even my breast milk the first 6 months she couldnt keep down! I hope this helps but if not then i hope you find some comfort for your little one ♡♡

What’s the right amount of formula for 3 months

My baby is 3 months and I give her 4 oz every feeding which sometime she want every 2 hrs or less and cry every time after the feeding as she want more specially after longer sleep but she calms down after burping and need to giver her pacifier, I read some articles that the baby only needs 3 to 4 Oz from month 1 to 6, her Dr said to do what feels right to my baby and I don’t want to over feed her, how can I make sure that she gets enough, and how much should she gain weight monthly ? to know if am under feeding her 😔

Me

My pediatrician said a rough estimate should be 1/2 your babies weight in ounces would be the absolute MAX that should be given for a feeding, but commonly it is less than that. So a 12 lb baby- max is 6oz—this seems excessive to me since my LO is almost 3 months getting 4 ounces of breast milk. She also said breast milk is different than formula regarding volume and if you use formula you may need a little higher volume for satisfaction. If you give an extra 1/2 ounce to 1 ounce from your current typical feeding ensure your baby doesn’t start spitting up etc which just means to scale back. If your LO does great see how that volume holds up satisfaction and if it gets you longer between feedings :) hope this helps a bit

Gentlease to Up & Up hypoallergenic

My little guy will be 6 months on the 25th. He’s always been gassy/acid reflux. He has been eating baby food and baby oatmeal since he was 4 1/2 months old 3 times a day. Over the past 2 weeks, he has been super gassy. No drops help. I’m considering switching to nutramigen, but the target brand. Think that’ll help? He has never slept through the night, but has been a lot more fussy and clingy at night now. I just want to help him be comfortable and sleep through the night. I’ve also stopped oatmeal at one feeding. Thanks :)

Could the oatmeal be too fibrous?

Am I feeding too much?

Hi moms. So my baby is 6 almost 7 weeks old and is drinking 4oz of formula every 2.5-3 hrs. His pediatrician says that’s too much. I mentioned he always starts to cry as soon as he finishes 3oz and she told me “crying is not always a hunger sign” which i do agree but I think in this case it is because he cries right when the bottle is taken out of his mouth. What do you guys think? Also, I just started this formula 2 weeks ago and baby is pooping every third day.. is that normal?

Try pace feeding the bottles. If baby is guzzling down a bottle with no break, they are not given a chance to realize they are full

Switching Between Formula Brands

Can you switch between Enfamil and Similac? i was gifted Enfamil formula and my baby usually uses Similac and i don’t want it to go to waste. Has anyone else switch between the brands? I don’t want to cause my baby discomfort.

I would not switch between the two. Even when you switch formulas you should use it for at least two weeks before you would know if it upsets babys tummy.

Hello moms need some help here I exclusively breast feed my 5 and half month old baby but am currently pregnant with my second baby and I know I have to introduce formula to him but I tried Aptamil and kabrita and he hated both of them they taste bad.

Which formula do you recommend

You don’t necessarily need to introduce formula, unless you are advised by your doctor to stop breastfeeding due to pregnancy complications. It is possible that your breastmilk will go through some changes and your nursing won’t like the taste, or it is possible you will loose your supply, at which point you would need to introduce formula, which would best be done combined with breastmilk at first 75% breastmilk 25% formula, then 50/50 then 25/75 until bottles are completely formula. but many women nurse through their entire subsequent pregnancies and some even go in to tandem feed both of their babies.

5 day old eating 4 oz before bed

So my 5 day old eats 2 oz every three hours in the day but when it comes to the evening he wants so much formula. I’ll usually give him is 2 oz and put him down for bed and give him is soother but he sucks so hard and spits it out than shoved his fist in his mouth and gives me all the feeding cues for more milk and eats another 2 oz. When I burp him he doesn’t spit any of it up but than after he has ate his 4 oz he has trouble sleeping and I really don’t want to give him more because 4 oz is alot for a 5 day old. I didn’t have this with my other 2 boys so this is different for me. Some nights he sleeps 5-6 hours but last night after the 4 oz he woke every 2 hours for another 2 oz. Any advice would be appreciated! My husband just says he is a growing boy but I don’t want to be over feeding him.

My newborn wants 1oz every hour?

Idk why but my 2 week old wants an ounce of formula every hour? Is this normal? Is this a growth spurt? When does it end ?

Nervous dad here

Our little girl was born 2 days ago and im worried about her feed intake. Once a day she will happily take 14-25ml of formula but any other feed seem to be only 5ml max. Not sure if this is a regular thing or something i should speak to the midwife about. Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated

Au

A newborn's stomach only holds 5 ml the first couple of days at a time. Even by a week old it is barely the size of a small egg. They should have given you information at the hospital explaining how little they eat the first week. Even once they are two or three weeks old they will only eat about 2 oz at a time every 2 hours around the clock. That is normal. Make sure you don't overfeed her because it will stretch her stomach and cause problems later on.

Feeding…

If you mix formula with breast milk will your baby be constipated my baby hasn’t pooped since the 17th and the only difference in her feeding is that I fed her twice with breast milk with formula. But now she hasn’t pooped since then it’s as normal?

Formula fed babes poop less for sure. My little pooped 5-6cm day while BF’ing then when he started formula it went to once every other day.

Poo pic… is this a milk allergy? Fussy, gassy, forceful spit up and a cough. On enfamil nueropro gentle ease.

ISO single serve formula powder packets- ideas

Hi! Soon to have my third baby- with my second someone bought me these amazing single serve formula packets- they were powder and made a 4 ounce bottle. About 20 came in a box. Perfect for supplementing for a breastfeeding mom who needs occasional help but could not use up a whole big container in the time frame. This time, I cannot find them- not online (Amazon let me down) nor in stores. Has anyone seen these? Any ideas where I could buy some? They bring so much peace of mind. Thanks in advance!

We should start producing them ourselves if they really stopped- they are seriously the best! What a poor business decision by them. Do you recall which brand it was- I think enfamil?

Recommend this Formula Pitcher!

Wanted to share in case anyone is looking for something to make middle of the night feedings easier. This is probably my #1 fave buy as a first time mom. It’s made making a bottle easier for my husband & myself when we’re a little dazed from waking up to feed the baby. Also left it with my MIL when she baby sat overnight. She said it was so much simpler to just pour rather than try to remember measurements & how much to feed. Hope this helps!!

I would talk to the Pediatrician for the best approach but I believe you can start switching off at 6-12 months

3 months old baby not drinking enough milk (formula)

Has this happened to anyone where their baby has suddenly started becoming fussier to drink formula?? My baby was drinking 90-120 every 3-4hrs but now it’s a hassle to het her to drink!! Not sure if it’s the formula that she doesn’t like anymore or if there’s any underlying issue?

When this.happened with both my kids it was time to move them to a faster nipple size. 3 months its usually time for that for some kids. They will have to get used to the next size but the other was too slow and they would just give up.

2 months old & need some advice!

Hi, my baby boy was born at 39weeks 2 days at 5lbs 10oz, he's been formula fed since birth as breastfeeding didn't work out. We read online that babies strain a lot in the first 8 weeks due to their digestive system not being fully developed yet, but we discovered after a few nights of uncontrollable and inconsolable crying that he had colic all that time!! We've been using infacol for about a week now and he seems better although he's not had a dirty nappy for a few days and now he's not taking as much milk in a 24hr period. He would drink about 4 or 5oz in a feed about every 3 or 4 hours now he has a couple of oz before not being interested anymore...Anybody know/had any thing similar?

Have you tried the target brand? It’s about the same price!

Help finding formula !

Please help! We live in Frederick- 21703 and are having a very tough time finding our 4 month old son’s formula. He takes: Enfamil Nutramigen Hypoallergenic Infant Formula. What’s annoying is, websites say that it’s in stock, but when we call the store before driving down there, they say that they don’t have it. We’ve asked family and friends all over the state and US. We tried alternatives, but our son is so used to the Nutramigen taste, that he doesn’t take anything else. We tried a liquid Similac version, but it took forever to warm up based on the amount he’s eating now (5-6oz). So the powder is more convenient for us, since we have a warm water dispenser. Any help Is appreciated! Thanks

I hope that you have been able to better find this formula. I don’t believe the milk is suppose to be warmed.
