It’s finally happening we’re going to start our first IUI this coming October!

First off I would like to say we’re gay women married for 5 years now. My wife she’s a Caucasian woman, an only child born of a non-conforming family and very accepting. She recently (2020) had a hysterectomy due to endometriosis; with years of battle and constant pain we decided that her health, comfort and happiness is more important so the surgery was performed. Her chances carrying a baby is out of the window.

I of course am happy and always wanted to carry so here we are preparing for October to come.

I am an Asian woman and my family is a very devout Christian. When I came out the first sentence was “why didn’t you tell us?” and the second was something about the bible.

They neither disown me nor fully accepts my gay fullness situation.

They enjoy my wife and they have full conversation with her. My mother calls my wife “my daughter in law” which for some reason I did not notice until my wife told me.

They do love us, we FaceTime twice a week talk about stuff, whatever family talks about. Then there’s that talk “I pray for you. This world is just getting worst… etc etc etc”

I do understand what they are talking about because I have faith too however I also believe that God is a loving God.

Anyway, they don’t know that we are planning and we’re going back North to visit. Do we tell them or do we just wait until the IUI takes.

Do I just send them a card where there’s a photo of bun in the oven?

How do I approach this?

How to even start the conversation?

My wife asks me once every week how do you tell your family your pregnant?
