Toddlers talking

My 18 month old is not very consistent in with saying words. Does anyone have any tips that I could use to help him want to start talking more. Thanks in advance.

Definitely bring it up with the pediatrician. My oldest started speech therapy at 22 months & it’s been very helpful. Keep reading to them everyday and narrate everything you do. Sing to them.

Covid symptoms in kiddos

If your kid has tested positive for Covid what have the symptoms been? My LO’s eyes just started watering (like dripping tears) and she has a slight fever. Thanks mamas!

I just learned that it can look like croup in toddlers. My daughter had croup but thankfully tested negative for covid. If you think it might be covid, call your pediatrician and see about getting a test for peace of mind.

18 Month Appt

Tall baby! Daughter is 34.25 inches tall! 98% They say with girls you can estimate here adult height by doubling their 18 month height...so she should be tall like me as an adult I will say, it rubbed me the wrong way when my pediatrician said she was as big as a 2.5 year old. Like I am 5'9", it would be highly inappropriate for someone to say I was as big as a man. Idk I am displeased at how early shes being aged up. Averages are averages, not law, this is why babies grow on a curve. But then again this is the same pediatrician that when it was my husband who took the baby in for an appointment told him not to feed her fried and fast foods (he's a bigger dude...so yes she legit fat shamed him....cause shes never said anything like that to me)

Mine is 34” and 28lbs! And I’m 5’6” and 110 lbs, so she doesn’t get it from me 😂. I get what you mean about people thinking she’s older than she is, but don’t think that it’s bad that the doctor mentioned it. The fried food thing is definitely weird, though. They didn’t even ask me what she was eating at her appointment.

Back in the saddle

After almost 19 months (on the 10th) I’m ready for #2. Got the ok from baby daddy. Time to make another baby🥳 this time activity trying.🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽

Irish twins...

First of all, god bless you hahah! How hard was it on your body? We’re you trying to get pregnant? What’s it like to have 2 babies so close in age?

Not Irish twins, but mine are 15 months apart. I’d say it was hard on my body in that I was so tired (physically & mentally) all the time. I also had HG, so that made it rough. I was trying to get pregnant & got pregnant right away. I like their age gap. It was really hard for like the first 6-9 months & then it got a lot easier. They are 19 months & almost 3 now, so they are into the same things, play with each other well, & are on the same sleep schedule.

Daycare or preschool?

Does anyone from this group have their current June 2020 babies in a daycare or preschool? I know they are all around the 18/19th month mark. Is that too young? Have you have them in daycare already for awhile now? What made you place them in there? How has COVID affected it? Just curious as I think I’d like to place my son in daycare at the later half of this year as he will be 2.5 by then and potty trained (we obviously have not started potty training yet- he’s too little). I am currently due with another baby in March 2022. so I’d like for my June 2020 baby to have some social development time with kids his age but I don’t want I send him off as soon as we have this next baby so he doesn’t feel any abandonment or have any issues with that. What are your thoughts? And I’m hoping by the end of 2022 Covid/ flu cases are down and everything is “safe” I’m obviously not sending him out if it’s bad. We live in California so numbers are always high but my hope is by the end of this year we can reach safe levels again.

My daughter has been in daycare since august. I’ll warn you that your LO might get sick a LOT until she builds immunity but it will only help in the future! Despite the colds she gets monthly, I love having her in that educational setting!

LO randomly puking but acts normal

My 2 year old has been puking once randomly in the middle of the night but will go back to sleep. When they wake up they act normal other then having no or low appetite. Any ideas

First thought was acid reflux. Could he have reflux issues? Maybe try propping up his head at night or talk to your doctor. What is he vomiting up…does it look like food…stomach acid/bile? maybe he has sensitivity to certain foods. Try papaya spears before bed…is he drinking whole milk before bed?

Potty Training

Any potty training tips/books/blogs etc that are quick and easy!? My daughter is starting to show signs by telling us when she peed and pooped. Thank you!

I won’t be starting for ally until after 2 years old, like I did with my oldest, but what I did was the first 4 days without any diapers/panties/pants on. It helps them to associate the sensation. I would sit her on the training potty every 30 minutes or so for a few minutes, and if she started to pee I would rush her to finish on the potty. Only took a few days.

Problems with sleeping in crib!

I need some advice! We took the paci away from our Lo a few months ago & now she refuses to sleep in her own crib! Before taking it away she fell asleep in her own in her crib & slept through the night. Now she just screams whenever we put her in her crib (even if we put her in there while she’s sleeping). Any advice on what to do??

My girl did the same. Give her something else to “replace” the paci. We did a crochet blanket. It’s really helped.

Toddler vitamin recommendations!

My LO is 18mo and I'm wondering if A. Ppl have their babies on vitamins and B. If so, whicg ones? Brands too!

I just asked a pharmacist about this yesterday and she told me she didn’t recommend it for children this young. But there are some brands made for toddler but she just thought it was too young. She said just make sure they have a healthy balanced diet and get plenty of natural vitamins through their food.

Hand foot and mouth

Can my daughter not see/play with other kids and people for a week? We're supposed to have a new year's Eve party/bday party for my husband tomorrow and I'm wondering if we need to cancel??

It’s also dangerous for pregnant people to get. Not sure if anyone coming is pregnant. I’d cancel.

Has anyone’s June baby stopped napping completely?

I know it’s early but for months it has been such a struggle getting him to nap.

My boy has only just dropped to one nap just in time for him to start day care

Itchiness

Has anybody experienced itchiness in pregnancy that wasn't too bad, you could ignore it but it ended up being something more severe. I am 32 weeks with my second and last week I started feeling itchy on my hands and then since then it's just spread all over, the only place I don't feel itchy is my stomach and feet.

ICP. I had it all three of my pregnancies, it’s pretty serious so you’ll need to bring it up asap and they’ll draw labs for bile acids and liver functions.

Cough medicine

What kind of cough medicine would you recommend for 18 months old. My LO has been coughing at night time recently.

I just asked our pediatrician about this. Depending on your baby’s weight, you could do some Benadryl to help dry things out. We haven’t done it yet, but my big June baby is allowed 5ml of Benadryl. Give your doctor a call and ask for next time.

Traveling with a toddler

Hey ladies! So we’re taking our baby on a plane in April and I’m just wondering if anyone has any tips? It’s a four hour plane ride too and fro! Thanks in advance!

I got lucky and our flights were scheduled during normal nap time and he slept the entire time. We weren’t going to purchase a seat for him but decided to and I’m so glad we did because we took a car seat and he slept in it. I did make sure to pack plenty of snacks and I purchased a couple of new toys just for the flight so he would have something new and exciting. I also downloaded a couple of movies on Netflix to the iPad just in case.

Footed or footless pajamas?

Which one is your little one sleeping in?

Been wearing footless since 9 months! She never wore fleece (way too hot) and she was walking by 9 months. She hates wearing socks lol.

So worried!

My 18 month old has had a swollen lymph node on the right side of the back of her head for probably 4 months now, just on one side. She hasn’t been sick or anything. About a month ago, she had an appointment and her pediatrician said to watch it and if it doesn’t go away in 3 weeks, let her know. Well it didn’t go away, so now she’s having me schedule an ultrasound. Does she suspect lymphoma?! I’m so beyond worried. Anyone have any advice?

Going through the same exact thing with my little one. He’s had it around the same amount of time as yours around four months and at his last visit they said as long as it was mobile and wasn’t getting larger than a pea it’s normal. Also said its more visible on skinnier kids which my son is.

Opinions?

18 month sleep regression

Is your 18 month old currently going through sleep regression? How are you handling it? Mine has been waking up around midnight for the past several days and refusing to go back in her crib 😔

Mine has been waking up super early like 5:30 am lately and not wanting to go back to sleep in his crib. At first it was teething his top molars were coming in. Now I am afraid he is in a bad routine because we caved and started letting him coming in to our bed and sleep on dad. I also have a 4 month old who gets up at 2 am sometimes and then 4:30 am every morning. But he goes back to sleep. I hope this passes soon!!! I thought I could count on my toddler as he was always a great sleeper before. So I am basically up from 4:30 am on, so tired!!

Al

Your babies sleep in their own beds?? 😂😂
