Hello everyone! I’m pregnant with our 4th, he is our rainbow baby (had a miscarriage in May) and our second boy. We have an 8yr old, 4yr old and almost 2yr old. All that being said, we have always been pretty open with our families about all things baby when I’ve been pregnant in the past. But families on both sides (especially mine) have been different this time around, my husband’s family for the most part has been supportive but both sides have made some judgy or sideways comments that have tainted this pregnancy a little for me. Fast forward to us picking a name for this little man, we have typically gone with old fashioned family names and this time we did go with old fashioned but his first name is not a family name (middle name is).

I asked my husband to not say anything to his family for a bit (we just picked out the name a few days ago) about our name decision. I wanted to be able to enjoy it without anyone’s comments about it or deal with any “why not this or that” comments. He didn’t understand and thought I was being silly but dropped the topic. Fast forward to Thanksgiving yesterday and my MIL asked him if we have chosen a name. He didn’t hesitate and told her and she laughed but when we weren’t laughing she said “Seriously?!” Ugh, and then started in with the “why not this or that’s”. Proving my point. But now he thinks because she knows we need to tell everyone and I still don’t want to.

Im not mad at my husband, he is always excited when we are expecting, but I am annoyed. He has seen and witnessed first hand why I am hesitant this pregnancy about sharing things. Am I just being a hormonal mess (definitely been struggling with that this pregnancy) and unreasonable or am I not crazy for wanting to be able to enjoy my son’s name?

FYI, the name we chose is, Tobias Edward.
