The story of Leeuhm SeRyan!

40w2d last picture before going to hospital. Contractions 4 min apart lasting 2 min. It's time, we are doing this, let's go. We get to the hospital and my contractions are 2 minutes apart lasting 2 minutes each. This baby is coming right?..... Wrong!

32 hours in, my dad and I walking around because my labor stalled. 🙄🙄 completely. No contractions, nothing... Not... Even... One... For 3 hours! I was 3cm at this point, and everything just stopped. 🙍...I went in not wanting any kind of pain relief,i wanted to do all natural, but for medical purposes,i had to get an epidural (got things moving again)but, I didn't get 1 dose of epidural,or 2 doses...nope, I had 4 because they kept wearing off so come time to push (10hrs later), and I was able to do it all naturally! Like I wanted. 2hr17min and a full episiotomy (pictured below) later, my son was finally born at 5:52 am (40w4d). Happy time right?....wrong...again. My son had 2 strokes during delivery, this was the scariest time of my life. All I could think to do was pray. My son wasn't breathing, he was rushed away immediately to be resuscitated, they had to do this twice, and then he stabilized, but could not breathe on his own, and was intubated.

This was the first time I saw my boy (14 hours after birth. Click to expand pic) he had a bunch of lines and tubes coming out of everywhere it seemed. He had a breathing tube because he couldn't breathe on his own, he had a nutrients line (the one in his nose) because he couldn't eat. He had 2 iv's for fluids. He had a pik line (a line that follows a vein all the way into the heart for blood draws, this is the line on his belly). He had heart monitors, and a pulseox. At this point, he was in a medically induced hypothermic state to slow his metabolic system and allow his brain time to heal/"rewire" itself. And even though he had all of the tubes and wires everywhere, he was still the most beautiful human I had ever seen in my life. Immediate love. He is in a medically induced hypothermic state, and on a cooling blanket to keep him that way, so we could barely touch him (just lightly with the tips of our fingers) because it was very important that his body did not warm up. He had to stay cold. He was on the blanket for 72 hours, and it took 6 hours to warm him back up afterwards. During the warming process, he had multiple seizures, but once his body was fully rewarmed, the seizures were no longer a thing!

Excuse my face in this one (very emotional moment) this was when I got to hold my boy for the first time (82 hours after birth) it hurt so bad to sit like this because of my episiotomy, but there was no way I wasn't going to push through that and hold my little boy. I remember being in so much pain, but so in love that it didn't even matter. All that mattered was that my boy was alive and here in my arms.

This is the day after my boy was taken off the hypothermic cooling blanket, the first time he opened his eyes 😍. His head is severely bruised because during labor, he kept getting stuck on my pelvic bone with his forehead (he came out brow appearance). Now, he also had a feeding tube instead of a nutrients tube and was able to have mommas milk! He hadn't had a bath yet so he still has birth on his head (the blood and fluids).

The day we got to go home! 12 days spent in NICU, and I know that doesn't even amount to the time that some families have to spend there, but it felt like an eternity. 12 days, and we finally got to bring our boy home. He was on oxygen because when he would eat, and fall into a deep sleep, his O2 would drop. But he got it off 3 short weeks later!

2 months strong! This was the day he turned 2 months old! We took pictures on the beach with seashells we collected!

This was halloween 2018 almost 3 months old, and you can't even tell that he is that baby from the hospital, he laughs, and plays, and rolls over, and holds his head up! And smiles, oh the smiles!

If you read this all the way to here, thank you! This was the most amazing, and most terrifying moment of my whole life. Everything was completely normal during the pregnancy. Strong, healthy boy. This is not how things were supposed to start, but they ended up so amazing! My son is definitely my miracle child! I titled this " my strong willed warrior" because that is what the name "Liam" means! And it fits him perfectly! My amazing little bundle of perfection from God.
