Intauterine insemination (IUI)
WHAT: IUI involves placing the collected sperm inside the female’s uterus to facilitate fertilization.
WHY: In some cases, ovulation induction medications may taken before the IUI procedure. The procedure is performed around the time of ovulation, typically about 24-36 hours after the surge in LH hormone indicating that ovulation will occur soon.
HOW: IUI can be used to overcome a range of fertility issues including unexplained infertility, minimal male factor infertility (low sperm count or decreased sperm mobility), and female cervical mucus problems.
