Is it okay for people in a relationship(married or not) to have opposite gender friends?

Personally, my husband and I allow each other to have opposite gender friends and see no issues with it but I'm wanting others opinions!

I'm not the jealous type nor am I one to be bothered by my SO having female friends (in fact I encourage it and he doesn't seem to want them) but it's unnecessary for them to be hanging out alone and it has nothing to do with trust, it's a respect thing. Your friends are my friends but one of that texting you at 3am bullshit.

The only friends me and my bf have of opposite gender we make sure the other one knows and is comfortable with us talking/hanging out with them, or if we're in a group. I always show my boyfriend if a guy is texting me because I have nothing to hide and would rather have everything out in the open instead of him find out later and think I was trying to conceal something 🙂

Completely fine! I'm great friends with my ex boyfriend (we dated when we were in 9th grade for like two weeks and been friends ever since. So been about 4-5 years now) and my boyfriend has no problems. And once some girl gave my boyfriend her number, and I encouraged him to talk to her! I have no problems with him having female friends. I trust him by not making a first move or to deny an advance. Trust is important I feel and if you cant, then you're gonna have some problems.

I don't get this "not allowing" thing at all. I mean, I'm pan, does that mean I can have zero friends because I want to sleep with everybody??
I don't care who my SO's friends with, as long as he's not going out of his way to be secretive about it, and vice versa. We both have friends of primarily the opposite gender, but that's just because we just happen to have friends who aren't girls in my case and guys in his. Who cares?
