How would you feel? *UPDATE*

Question

Boyfriend bought a friend something for her baby shower... I've never heard of this girl until the gift arrived. I don't think that he was banking on me being home (I took the day off). The package came, I asked what it was and he clammed up. So I opened it. It was a freaking delux pack and play. I asked who it was for and he got quiet. I pushed for an answer and he says that it's for a friend that he went to ELEMENTARY school with... 🤔😒. I've never heard of this grade school friend until the package arrived. I was so hurt. I asked him to pack his things and leave.

In all honesty I believe that he got this girl pregnant and that he's trying to take care of this child behind the scenes, and still live his life with me in the dark... Well my friends what's done in the dark usually come to light!!

How would you ladies feel about this? What would you have done in this situation?

The baby is his. She was threatening to tell me so she started demanding large gifts to remain quiet. So far that was going pretty well for her, until I just so happened to be home. Didn't take long to find her, fb tells ALL. I sent her my number and asked her to call me. She did. I explained who I was & she said "I already know who you are! & I guess I'm about to be cut off!" I asked what she meant and she said "they agreed once I knew that he wouldn't have to hide it anymore, and that he would sign his rights over after the baby was born." I asked why she would allow him to do that and she said "it has always been apart of the plan. I was just blackmailing him for gifts."

I couldn't say much else after hearing that... That is by FAR the dumbest shit that I've ever heard! I am disgusted with the fact they they're both so damn dumb! I called him and informed him that I knew the truth, and to let him know that we were really done. He began to explain that he was signing his rights over so that we could go about or lives and continue to plan out our future. I asked why he tried to keep it a secret, he said "I knew I'd lose you!" Since that phone call ended he's been back and forth between knocking on my door, crying about being sorry (I changed my locks), and sitting in his car calling my phone.

Smh... Why do most men step out on what they have at home and go for the chicks that don't have ANYTHING going for themselves??

Pack and plays are like $200-$400 that's a pretty damn pricey gift to give to somebody you use to know in elementary school. I would whoop my husband's ass if I found out he did that. I agree it sounds like it might be his baby.

I would have the same assumptions that you have, honestly.  I don't know any men that would randomly buy a baby gift for any friends, let alone an expensive one.

My husband wouldn't even know where to start except maybe a pack of diapers.  Thing is, pregnant women usually only have baby showers with their female friends and guys don't even know about it unless their SO is involved in it.

If he didn't have anything to hide, he could have simply stated who it was for and why.  Clamming up and trying to go about it secretly will always raise red flags.

Yeh this is a no i mean there was a girl at my husbands work that they threw a baby shower for and my husband got her a pack of cheap diapers......i went out and got some onsies and pacifiers to go with it and a damn gift bag. ( he was going to "just put the diapers on the table at work..... -_-  )  
So no this is beyond suspicious most couples kind of have a deal that anything over $100 has to be agreed upon.  And that its some random girl from elementary  makes it even more weird.  Not to mention one that warrants something this big but you have never heard of.

It's is weird that he would by such an expressive gift but I think you are jumping to conclusions! Just because he bought a gift does not mean it's his kid.

This is really weird. I would have probably come up with the same conclusion you did. I'd be pissed if my husband spent hundreds of dollars on a gift for someone else without clearing it with me. It makes it totally suspicious! But then my husband isn't the gift buyer so that'd be a total red flag in my mind

Aw, that sucks hun. 99% chance that's his kid. My husband is a very generous guy and he would never ever ever give something like that to a 'friend'. He would maybe give it if we had one and were done with kids to someone who needed it... But we would have that discussion before hand. It wouldn't be brand new and it wouldn't be to a supposed friend I've never heard of before. A big gift like that is given by people who matter- Family (blood or chosen).

Jeez that's quite a jump. From buying a pressie to it being his kid. Can you talk (very calmly and nicely) to the friend? Get to know her a little maybe that will ease your nerves.

I think he probably just got something she told him to or was on her list.

My partner is really generous with our friends and I wouldn't think twice about it if he bought someone a pricey baby gift.

I thin once someone is buying baby pressies for someone it's kinda boner killer- like this person is obviously involved and carrying a child with someone. I doubt he is doing much beside trying to be a friend or possibly impress her with his wallet at the worst.

I'm sorry your so upset- I hope you figure everything out. Keep us posted.
