How many times do you pump?

I am 12 days pp and have been exclusively pumping. I like that I'm giving my baby breast milk but this pumping schedule (8+ times a day) is annoying. When were you able to decrease your pumping without decreasing milk?

Congrats and welcome! I'm going to be honest and say the first 3 months are the hardest because it is important to pump at least 8 times a day for most women to establish supply. After about 12 weeks most women don't see a huge drop in supply by dropping a pump, though most need to lengthen the time of their remaining pumps. Dropping pumps and therefore ounces aren't such a big deal when baby's consumption drops after introducing solids. I dropped my middle of the night pump at 12 weeks, went to 6 pumps at 4 months, 5 pumps at 6 months, 4 pumps at 7 months, and 3 pumps at 9 months. Women with an oversupply may be able to do it faster but I always made just enough and so had to pump more frequently. I'm almost 10 months pp and at 3 pumps, I still making what baby girl needs though she takes a lot less now with solids!

I was pumping every two hours. It sucked but it made me produce a ton of milk. At about a little over a month I began to think I would switch to formula. I started cutting back and pumping every four hours...it hurt so bad and I got clogged the first few days. But eventually I cut back. I now pump every 4 hours but am perfectly comfortable to go longer if I'm out and about. And I am only at two months.

I was pumping 7 times a day and stopped my night pump around 6 weeks when baby was sleeping through the night so I pumped 6 times a day until 12 weeks then I dropped to 5 pumps which I'm currently doing. My supply stayed the exact same and we are now almost 4 months out. I dont make extra though I've always made about 30 oz which is exactly about what she eats. I want to drop to 4 pumps but think I will wait until the 5 month mark. But I agree with PP you may need to lengthen your pumps if you drop one 😊

I'm pumping every 2- 3 hours and at night 6 hours because I'm just so tired but i get more if i go 6  hours without pumping.. Sometimes i want to give up but my baby is micro preemie so i know he needs it
