Mother In Law

Jennifer
Up until becoming pregnant My MIL and I had a great relationship.  During the pregnancy she often would make comments about what I was doing (don't drink cold water it'll shock the baby) and attempting to change my baby registry.  She has an entire wardrobe for my daughter--clothes she won't let me see and nursery.
During a baby shower hosted by my husband's job she confronted me about the flu shot.  She didn't want to get the shot and said I was trying to dictate what she did with her body.  Because we live in a big city and our daughter is now only a week old, my husband and I asked those who would be around our daughter a lot to get the flu shot as instructed by our doctors.  We made the request in September...our daughter was born in March giving people ample time to discuss getting the shot with their doctors.  She even brought in my husband's cousin into the conversation telling me I was being silly and that they didn't need to get the shot.  I just didn't know anything because I wasn't a mom yet.  They said I shouldn't listen to the doctors.  I was completely humiliated as this was done in front of some of my husband's coworkers.
After our daughter was born my MIL told my husband I was an outsider trying to split up the family.  She said I had no idea what I was doing which is why my mom had to come to town (my mom stayed with me three days).
I am so angry with my MIL.  My husband tries to ignore her and this weekend we talked to her about her actions.  He told her he was standing with me/--that we're one and she did not like that one bit.
I feel bad that my husband is in the middle. I don't have any family of my own here like my husband and I need some support.  I really do feel like an outsider now.
