Ultrasound not until 20 weeks??

Question

We heard the heartbeat today- 175!!! But my doctor doesn't do an ultrasound until 20 weeks :/ anyone else have to wait that long? I want a picture for it to seem more "real!!"

We had an a transvaginal US at 6weeks which we really saw nothing and NP doing did not seem to know what she was doing. Saw our OB last Friday at 11 weeks and thought we'd get a better US then, but she didn't do one just heard heart beat. Won't have another US until 20weeks and that will be the abdominal one. I was disappointed seems like everyone gets multiple US. I think it all depends on the doctors office.

it is normal if you havent had complications before with pregnancy or if you are not high risk and if he/she could not hear a strong heartbeat. A strong heartbeat generally is a good sign the baby is doing fine

That is not normal at all. You should go to another doctor because there are two US that need to be done before that to confirm things are going well with baby. They also do a series of measurements around 10-12 weeks that give you a better idea of due date and baby's growth.

My doctor did one on me at 8 weeks and I'm supposed to have one at 20 weeks. During my 12 week appointment I'm supposed to get to hear the heartbeat again but then after the 20 week scan I won't get to see my little one until the due date! :/

My doctor only does ultrasounds at the first appointment and at 20 weeks. Everything in between is just hearing the heartbeat. I was disappointed during my second appointment because I didn't get one, I feel like everyone I know had one around 12 weeks. Just would be nice to see a baby on the screen to know everything looks normal.

I had one at 8 weeks. But only because I had a miscarraige a few months ago. They just wanted to make sure everything was going good. My next one won't be until 18-20 weeks. I'm 10w6d right now.

I'm in Canada and I was told if you know how long you are,  you won't have an ultra sound until 20 weeks.  I got an earlier one due to a higher chance of twins.  I was shocked because I had an early u/s with my son and another at 20 weeks no questions asked.

My first was at 6 weeks 2 days, my second was at 8 weeks 2 days.  My third is coming up Friday-12 weeks 2 days.  I will also have my first perinatal visit on the same day Friday-dl different office, different doctors. At the perinatal visit they take blood test, u hear the heartbeat,  ultrasounds, another pap smear..the whole 9 yards.  And of course if u want to do the tests for genetic stuff..it's done between 10-14 weeks.
However, from what I heard,  it differs..from doctor to doctor,  from office to office,  city to city, county to county,  state to state. ..
What MY obgyn office offers at 8 weeks , might not be offered on other states until 20 weeks.
The good news is that u can get an elective ultrasound at any point..from a private clinic. . And pay for it urself of course

My doctor is doing an ultrasound next week (I'll be roughly 11 weeks) to figure out exactly how far along I am then the next won't be until August or so for gender. It seems like the only time you get more (from what I've read and asked friends that have kids) is if you're high risk
