Preterm labor signs and stories

Could any of you twin mommies who experienced preterm labor share their stories or symptoms? I went in yesterday (25 weeks 4 days, di/di) due to stabbing vaginal pains. My cervix dilated about a .5cm but was discharged because I wasn't in active labor. They want me to look out for the usual regular contractions, water breaking, bleeding and decrease in fetal movement. However I'd like to avoid this altogether if I can. So have you mommies out there experienced signs or symptoms that helped you to determine if you were going into labor before any of the main symptoms occurred? Thank you for your support.
