There must be some natural benefits, as most animals will eat the placenta after giving birth to get the nutritional value x

I won't be doing it and here's a quick explanation of why.

I had been following a natural living blog for awhile before getting pregnant and the author had just delivered her 3rd or 4th baby.  As with all the other babies, she encapsulated her placenta and raved about how much they had helped her post partum previously.  A few weeks later, she had a blog that mentioned that she had thrown away the pills because they weren't helping, if anything they made her feel worse.  Looking into it more, I became convinced that the "help" they give is all placebo effect or just natural variation in mood between pregnancies.  Plus, if nature intended us to benefit from the placenta post partum, why would it be expelled?  We expel all sorts of other things (urine, feces etc) and you don't hear about people consuming those to make sure they get all the good stuff out of them.

No, because it is biomedical waste and I don't really find placenta eating to make much sense or be appealing.

There is zero proof that it helps.Most studies show that it is the placebo effect or just good luck that make the mothers feel great after birth.

My doula will be doing mine. Everyone has their own opinions on everything but for me I definitely want to encapsulate, I could have had it raw in smoothies but I dont like the texture of normal fruit smoothies so that was out for me lol.

It wasn't convenient for me last time, so I took sheep placenta capsules instead. They helped me so much and was easy to order online so I'll be doing that again.
