Dalmatians. Who has one?

We are getting a dalmatian and I'm so excited. She's a puppy. She is mixed with something, but I'm not sure yet, and has no spots which mad me sad for like two seconds. I have been after my husband for a puppy for a long time (he's a cat person). I have heard some bad things about dalmatians, like their temperamental and we have a three year old. That's the only part I'm iffy about. Anybody have insight so I can go from 95% excited to a full 100%?

I have a Dalmatian cross with a German short haired Pointer, he's called Freckles, we rescued him from the dogs home! Here he is! Xx

Dalmatians are very high energy from what I have heard and require a job. Training will be very important and exercise will be very important. Bored dogs and under excercised dogs are most often the ones that act out because they are trying to entertain themselves.

I can't comment on temperment as I'm not that familiar with the breed. I do believe that a dog trained to behave well regardless of the temperment/breed are less dangerous than untrained dogs.

I had one before. She was the sweetest thing ever. She was really hyper. And could open her little gate. Exercise alot. But they really are the sweetest. I was a kid when we had her, so they're not bad with children.

Stranger the lil boy liked dogs and the dog lunged at and knocked him down. He wasn't tied up I believe. This happened 20 years ago but it really surprised me.

I have never heard good things about Dalmatians and children. I'd look into a lot more before you get too excited.

I had a Dalmatian black lab mix growing up. She was all black and had the body of a Dalmatian. She was a great dog, not the brightest. Couldn't catch a piece of meet if it landed on her face. We got her as a young dog, the owners before her abused her and she had severe anxiety. 
She was all black, one of her siblings was all white. The others were awkward spotted heads and black bodies lol

It takes a while for spots to show up with Dalmatians. Raise it right and you shouldn't have any problems. The pure bred Dalmatians are known to be deaf, because of a lot of inbreeding, which is part of where the stories come from.

I saw a Dalmatian lunge at a 2 year old and the kid lost his two front teeth. They are very protective! That scared me after I saw that.
