Does a pad make blood seem darker?

I just got my period after a good 50 something days thinking that I was pregnant but thank god I'm not, at least I don't think i am. And the blood on my pad seems black and when I googled it they said that black blood at the beginning of a period can mean it's a sign of early pregnancy and that some women do have their period their first month of pregnancy. So does anyone know if the pad makes the appearance of the blood any darker bc when I wipe the blood is just red. I'm 16 btw 😋
