When do you start getting checked?

I will be 33 weeks at my drs apt next week. I have been having A LOT of contractions (like 10intense contractions everyday). I know I'm not in labor and they are probably Braxton hicks. With my first two pregnancies I had early delivers (35-36 weeks) and began to dilate every earlier than that. My question is when does your dr start checking dilation? I want to ask to be checked this time just because of how many contractions I have had. Is it too early?

If you're at term, or at least > 35 weeks, I will check if a patient asks me to. I will check someone if they are getting induced to see if they have a favorable cervix. Otherwise I wait until labor. You can walk around dilated for weeks or not dilated at all and it doesn't change when you go into labor or (generally) your labor outcome.

Docs usually start checking at your weekly appointments that start at 36 weeks. I've been having aweful contractions all month so I asked my midwife to check and I am 32 weeks and 1 cm, 20% effaced and cervix is super soft! He is so low that she could push up on his head and I could feel him move up! Definitely taking it easy from here on out! And I'm thankful I asked her to check. You know your body better than anyone if you feel like you could be dilating don't hesitate to ask. They should check you if you request it.

Mine checks at 37 weeks. But it honestly doesn't make difference what they say... People have walked around 3-4 cm dilated for weeks! Sadly there's no for sure way to tell if you're going into labor. :(  believe me. I've looked and looked. Lol

I've been checked every two weeks since 28 weeks. But, I had some issues at 24 weeks.

My doctor checked me today at my 33 week appointment because I was having contractions. Cervix is still closed but soft and my baby has dropped. I start my weekly appointments at 35 weeks and that's when he'll start checking me weekly. Usually the normal time for doctors to start checking is 36 weeks

My Dr begins cervical checks once my weekly appointments begin at 36 weeks. I think that's a standard for many Drs but they vary! I had a concern with Braxton hicks and cramping and worry some so mine checked me at 30 weeks to make sure. All was good, I'm now 34 weeks.

My first check is at 36 weeks! I'm 2 days from 35. Sucks waiting, I haven't had a medical ultrasound since 23 weeks! So impatient to know how big my boy is and what position he's in, etc.

My doctor wouldn't check me at my last appointment 36w. And I have been having contractions since 30 w. The earliest she is willing to check is my next appointment at 37w 4d. And even then she doesn't want to but is willing to do it to help put my mind at ease. She didn't want to cause labour by checking which is another reason she has held off even though she figured by now I would have gone into labour.
