VERY late period

I haven't kept track of when I was having my period and now I can't remember the last time I had it but I haven't had it this year yet and I didn't have it in December. I haven't had sex and I'm 16 years old. I'm really worried it might be something big because my family has a history or breast cancer and uterus problems, but everyone is telling me it's normal. Is it??
