The Lh surge (what your opks detect) can be really short, but it only triggers the ovulation. The ovulation itself will happen within 12-36 after the surge.

Getting a positive opk just means your lit heal hormone(lh) is rising, keep checking twice daily and its recommended to not use first morning urine. I recommend digital opks. Hope this helps!
