FTM...Bh vs. real contractions???

Question

Every time I go to the dr they ask me if I have been having any contractions. I haven been able to give a straight answer I always say I don't know. Can some one explain the difference between the two

Contractions won't go away (I've been told) BH will go away when you change positions, drink water, or take a bath. Real contractions continue regardless of what you do getting stronger and closer together. To me BH feels like a tightening all the way up to my chest that even makes it feel hard to breathe good!

Real contractions start in your back and go around your belly. Your belly feels like you are doing a sit up when you are relaxing. They are consistent and get stronger. Bh might just be on one side and not as strong. If you think you are having real contractions get up and move or lay down. Basically the opposite of whatever you are doing when they started. If they continue to get worse they are real. Hope that helps!

Real contractions hurt. When I mean hurt I mean my entire belly just not one spot, just not pressure but period like cramping from my boobs to my pelvis

Real contractions will make changes in your cervix, but they can feel different for everyone. Eventually, they will come progressively harder and faster.

In the beginning, most people describe them as a combination of cramping, tightening, and/or back pain.

Braxton hicks are usually painless, but they may be mildly uncomfortable. They can feel a lot like real contractions, but they don't progress labor.
