Have close family members gotten the Tdap vaccine?

I gave my close friends and family two options: 1. Get the tdap if you haven't had it 2. Don't get it and don't see my baby. End of story. Sounds harsh, but to me nobody is worth risking my newborns health!

We made sure all grandparents and aunts and uncles have had it. It was a challenge though, let me tell ya.

My husband insisted that his parents get it after I told him what whooping cough does to babies. He's been more protective of our baby girl than I would have thought!

Nope. Plus the shot makes you a potential carrier for up to a month meaning they could inadvertently pass whooping cough on to my baby and others during that time. No chances. Lots of research to support that.

Most people got boosters long ago. Those last for quite a few years. Getting them right before the baby is born isn't actually wisest. I haven't asked friends though, simply because it gives me an excuse to keep people away. I'm not fond of playing baby hot potato and having everyone and their brother holding my baby. So I get to say "no vaccines, no baby!" Its wonderful.

Asked my family as we have my kid cousins who get every illness known to mankind!! Not worth the risk. My family also wants to do a huge Mother's Day brunch out in public and I'm thinking we may not be able to go as too many stupid people like to touch newborns and if he's born on his due date or after, he'll only be two weeks.

My hubby and I got it. Doc said only people actually caring for the baby during the first 6 weeks need it. I will be on maternity leave so hubby and I will be the only caretakers.
