I'm on an antidepressant. I think depending on what you take and how long you take it it can be harmful. If you're prescribed it however I think it's generally because a doctor feels the positive effects out weigh the negative side effects for you. Depression can me much more damaging to a person than the side effects of medication. When deciding whether to take it you really need to weigh out both the possible pros and cons. I think everyone should try therapy first before being medicated but that's not always possible in certain circumstances

I agree with my name twin up there. I'm on Zoloft, and without it I can't function day-to-day. There are always risks involved in taking medicine, but as long as you're not pregnant, I wouldn't worry too much unless your doctor tells you to.
