Id say it depends on the type of crime. Violent offenders or sexual assualts absolutely not. Having a felony for selling weed? Who cares?

Non violent offenders should have every opportunity to serve and become productive members of society.

My husband said some felons should be allowed a 2nd chance to join the military

He said no way in hell should they be allowed to serve the military as a jail sentence

My husband is active duty army. We get housing and a lot of amazing opportunities. My husband joined because he loves his country and volunteered. He believes the military is something great. Not a jail sentence for a felon to enjoy instead of being in jail.

I think they should have a choice of serving their sentence in the military or in jail.

No... For the most part not because they don't deserve a second chance they do. I just don't lol the idea of wars being fought on the backs of people out options. The people sending them to fight wars become out of touch with their reality.

If they can't vote or have a passport, then they shouldnt be allowed to join the military. Government can't trust them to leave the country but they'll trust them to fight for it? Doesn't sound fair.
