Is it my mucus plug? (No pic)

So today I had my cervix checked and it was really rough and he couldn't even feel it because it was up high and to the left. Of course I bleed a little (spotting) and when I stopped bleeding, I went to the bathroom and there was a ball of red something looked like mucus or something at the bottom of the toilet. I'm just curious if the trauma from it being so rough could cause my mucus plug to come out...? I'm due April 6th and I'm measuring 3 weeks more than I am..
