Birth plan????

How do I make a birth plan? I'd there some type of format or something it should be written in? What should I cover in it? How soon should I have one done?

My hospital sent us one to fill in! It covered everything from labor & birth to visitors, emergency situations & even things that may come up throughout our stay. As a FTM I wouldn't have known to include all those things so I highly highly recommend getting a template from your doc/hospital or even google!

You can google birth plan templates or ask your doctor/hospital if they have a standard one you can fill in. You want to cover anything you feel very strongly about (pain medications or coping techniques, feeding plan post birth) but I always say remember this is just a "plan" and plans can change (especially if this is your first baby) so try not to be too rigid, BUT also don't feel like you need to just give in on something ou feel strongly about. Your body will tell you a lot in the moment and the medical professionals can help fill in the rest. Good luck to you!!
