How to get baby to self soothe?

Kate🔅 • FTM ⭐️
Hello. I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but I couldn't find a thread.
Anywho....
My 5 month old has gone from sleeping 3-4hrs at a time, to 30 min. Seriously. He wakes up during the night several times. I've read of the 4 month regression and believe I'm dealing with that. He won't stop crying until I pick him up, if I don't do it quick enough he gets hysterical.
My mom said to just let him cry himself back to sleep, I'm not very good with doing that.
What has worked for you?

You dont. Its a 5 month old tiny human thats probably about to or has recently hit a new milestone and is confused and overwhelmed and wants their mom for comfort and reassurance. Pick up your baby they are only small once. This will all pass but for now baby needs you

Having children is all about phases. Babies are all about reassurance of love and company. Self soothing has been proven to create emotional and psychological problems on the long run. Your baby needs you and it won't be forever. Enjoy the cuddling time :D it'll pass so fast you will soon miss it.

Did you tried to do the 10 min method?

Everytime he starts to cry. Let him be for 10 min. Than sooth (check his diaper maybe he needs to burp) him and put him back in his crib. Keep doing this until he sleeps and repeat this for a week or so.

He's way to young for that, that's just sad

About 6 months I started laying them down and rubbing their back and patting their butts. My daughter enjoyed getting her tummy rubbed softly, my son couldn't sleep unless I patted his butt. Also I put them in their car seat and set it on the dryer and ran it, then when they're asleep and really out of it you can move them without waking them. Good luck.
