When to seek fertility doctor?

I'm 35 ttc, when should I get on fertility meds if I want to have 2 children?  I know my age is a factor.

Has your Dr. done any blood work?  Checking you hormones to make sure you are even ovulating?  I had all that done before I went to see the RE.  I'm 35 as well, and we were to the point of giving up, our daughter is almost 7, and then the risk put onto me.  When I went to the RE, he wanted to do Clomid with ultrasound, which my Ob had done 5 times. So we had decided that was it we were done. But I really focused on my cycle that month, listened to my body took basal temp & we used preseed. What ever happened it work, 7 weeks today!

6 months of actively trying to conceive, just to check on hormones, make sure you ovulate, the have blood tests to check your ovarian reserves, ultrasound your ovaries, and your uterus, check the patency of your fallopian tubes ans check on quantity and quality of your partners sperm, good luck.

If you've been trying more than 6 months you can go to either your gyno or a fertility doc to get blood work and ultrasounds done. I went straight to an RE because my insurance covered it and figured he would really know what he was talking about but for blood work it's not necessary. If it gets to the point of taking meds I would talk to and RE. You want to be monitored properly taking things like Clomid.

I have been trying for a year and have just been seeing my gynecologist. My husband and I decided to make an appointment with a Reproductive Endocrinologist. Our appointment is on the 12th. Hopefully I will get some answers, since we have been diagnosed with unexplained infertility as both of us checked out fine. It's just frustrating, every one I know gets pregnant with no struggle and it is impossible for me.

I'll be 36 in 2 weeks. Just saw my dr today after trying 7 months (had 1 chemical pregnancy in February). My Dr said I'm still "young" and don't need to worry about my age but she sees how stressed I am and said I can go ahead and see a specialist if I want.

I'm not sure about 25 and above but I'm 30 and my dr says he will test after he have tried for 12 months straight
