When to want a baby?

My fiancé and I are getting married this summer and I cannot be more excited to start our lives together!! I'm 24 and my handsome man is 22. I'm anxious to start our family and my fiancé feels like he can wait a while. All I've EVER wanted is to be a wife and momma. How long do you recommend a newly wed couple wait until they try and have their first baby? I want to try within the the first two years of marriage and that seems to scare my man a bit :/

My husband and I waited 4 years before trying for children. We wanted to enjoy married life. Marriage is a big step and so is having a baby. One at a time is much better - IMO.

I wouldn't say you have to wait... If you're ready you're ready. My husband and I lived together years before we got married so we only waited a few months to start trying.

Everyone is different, I've had friends married for 4 years before a baby. We really want kids but weren't financially ready so we're expecting number 1 the week before our second wedding anniversary. My SIL got pregnant 6mo after their wedding. Just wait until you have a solid marriage, that's all.

Do you have good jobs? Are you settled in your careers? Do you have a few thousand at LEAST in savings? Can you afford time off to take care of an infant? Are you in a a long term residence? Are you both healthy? Are you two stable enough to handle the stress of a newborn?

Everyone is different. You both need to be on the same page but you two are the only ones who can know what's right for you.

I got married at 22 and didn't have my first baby until I was 34.  I just wasn't ready.

I would reccomend waiting until you both are 100% ready. I was just like you.. Wanted a baby for forever. Hubby wanted a baby, but not yet. We were together for 6 years when we finally got married, we'll be married 2 years (in June) and are ttc. Hubby was finally ready shortly after we'd been married a year. We are 24/25. You can't put an amount of time on it, unfortunately. But I urge you not to pressure him.. It will only make him resent you. What worked for me.. I stopped talking about babies. Just altogether stopped bringing babies up. Then HE started bringing them up and not long after said he was ready to start ttc. 😊 Good luck sweetie! And be patient with him.

I say it depends on how long you are together with SO before marriage. My hubs and I were together for 3 years before marriage and then pregnant after only  6 months of marriage.

Enjoy being married first. You'll have the rest of your lives to devote to your child but enjoy just the two of you guys a little first

My hubby and I got married in november,  and had been together for 11 months before that. We are just starting to plan our family, mainly because we are having problems with job insecurity. I'm 22 and he is 27.

At least a year. We waited 4 and I am so glad we did. We had a lot of shit to work through and needed to get settled into our careers.
