Planned Parenthood?

I've been thinking about getting on birth control for a while now, especially since the last pregnancy scare. 
The nearest Planned Parenthood is about an hour drive, but my boyfriend and I have decided to both take off work and go visit them on the 11th. 
I'm sort of hoping someone can tell me what to expect, as I've never been to a doctor about anything like this before.

In my experience they are really nice and want to educate you on your body. You'll have to get a pelvic exam and Pap smear (they suck, but it doesn't take long). Depending on your age, whether you are in school, and how much money you make, you will be charged on a sliding scale. When I was in high school, everything was free. I just had to make a "donation" for the birth control pills.

They will go over your history and any family history. Any family history of breast cancer, blood clots or ovarian cancer- things like that. They will ask you about your periods and practicing safe sex then will talk to you about birth control options and start you on something.thats how we do it in my office anyhow, not every office is the same- we then usually have the patient back in 3 months for a medication check to see how they are doing on the pill.
