Your experience with couples counseling?

Question

After my son was born, my boyfriend and I's relationship has been a little rocky and we have been considering couples counseling so I was wondering if it has been successful for anyone?

I am a psychologist and couple therapist and I am also married to one 😀 so I am obviously biased. BUT after our miscarriage,  2 years ago,  we went for couples therapy and altough it didn't solve several of our issues, it certainly improved our relationship and it saved us from a way bigger crisis. DO go to a certified couple therapist (base training in psychology social work or psychiatry + specialization in couples therapy)  not *just* a couselour.

I went solo when i had our son. My husband had got a job traveling and I had this nb, and we were all of 20 years old. It was so helpful to have someone to listen to me. Obviously they don't fix you, but they give you tools and you just put in the time. That was 5 years ago and saved me from demanding a divorce. It's worth a shot.
