Support Belts? Opinions?

What is your opinion on a maternity support belt? I was looking into them. Feel like I could use it while sleeping but think it may be beneficial on for later in pregnancy.

I have one as my hips are a problem.  You are not supposed to sleep in them though, you take them off if lying down for an hour or more.  You don't want your muscles disappearing.  There are a few wee exercises you should be doing uf you wear these, to maintain some tummy muscle.  I have been seeing a physio about my hips and she says you need to safeguard those muscles to help labour and recovery.

If you need support in bed, a pillow is better.

My hips are totally sorted now though, so I think they are wonderful.  You can use tubigrip to do the same job.

It looks like this. It's got these stretchy Velcro straps on the side. You pull them tight after you put the band on, and it pulls your belly up a little and relieves pressure.

USE A SUPPORT BELT! I work at a maternity store and, I'm serious, DAILY we have women come in with serious backpain who try on a support belt and they leave feeling like a different person. I love selling support belts because of the difference it makes in how pregnant feel! I cannot reccomend them enough!
However, you're not really supposed to sleep in them- I don't think they'll do much help while you're sleeping anyway. Use them on days when you're shopping for many hours, working a long shift, or when you know you'll be on your feet a lot. They definitely work for women who aren't even pregnant, so they work on any belly size- but they're truly made for those last few months and weeks of pregnancy when you feel like the baby is going to fall out of you.

Like a belly band? My friend just gave me one, I'm 26 weeks along. It instantly relieved pressure on my pelvic region (because my baby sits super low) and within five minutes the back pain was subsiding too. I use it when I'm up on my feet all day, but not when I'm sleeping.
