Infertility?

Hey y'all. I've been a type 1 diabetic for 14 years now and I was wondering if anyone else who has had it since a young age could tell me if it affected fertility later? When I first saw an endocrinologist, he told me that having kids later could be impossible for me because of my blood sugars staying high through puberty. Anyone with type 1 have any trouble conceiving? I've had it since I was 7 and it doesn't run in my family or anything. I take much better care of it now as well.
