Laser hair removal -- what's your opinion?

I have been wanting laser hair removal for a long time until I read about it. They use infrared light which targets melanin and melanin is there to protect you from the sun. So technically you're messing with melanin production. Are there any studies between laser hair removal and  cancer. I feel like laser hair removal isn't as sweet as it seems and it comes with negative outcomes.
