Why does he ask me this ?

We've been together for a year and he asks me "do I make you happy" "are you happy being with me"

I say I am because I'm head over in heels in love with him.  But I have not said I love you nor has he.

I know it's 2016 and time changes but shouldn't he say it first?

He's been hurt many times. Some women I feel only dated him for what he could do for him. I spoil him😉 and do things to and for him no other woman has.  Why does he feel so self conscious ?

Maybe he needs to hear it. Kind of like reassurance because he's been hurt before. Maybe you should tell him you love him (if you truly do,not just because that's the next step). Maybe that will ease his mind and let him not be holding back in fear you don't feel the same.

I think if you feel it you should say it. Who cares who says it anymore. I said it first to my husband because I felt it and couldn't hold it in any longer.

You know why, you just said it. Times have changed. In my relationship, I said "I love you" first. I was nervous but he knew I was gonna say he, he even pushed me to say it. When you're in sync, it won't feel so wrong. If it makes you feel better, say it in a moment of passion. Not sex but try saying it when you're cuddling or kissing. It'll definitely feel easier

Life is too short to keep your feelings from those you love. Don't be afraid to be the first to say it. He will either say it back or he won't and you'll have a conversation to know where you really stand.
