does he get upset when you spend money on him?

yes? try something homemade. cookies or a photo book.

no? 
try a Nike or under armour hoodie or something of that nature.

what kind of things is he into? 
sports? game tickets 
video games? find out what new game he wants

my boyfriends bday is coming up as well and I'm getting him this army shirt, some film and some iTunes money. 
-that's probably not much help cause my boyfriends an oddball

Well what does he like? Does he like games? Does he like working out? I think I may be able to give you some ideas.
