tips to make cake pops??

i tried I swear I thought it would be easy but they would destroy when I tried to dip the ball in the candy melt, i guess the candy was not very smooth. i tried warming a little more each time. i know warming the candy a lot could've messed the mixture. anyways i need to make some for the babyshower...

How are you heating the chocolate candy? I find putting some in a zip bag inside a strainer over a boiling pot on the stove makes it heat evenly. It's easy to over heat in the microwave.

Put the balls in the freezer for a little bit before dipping. And if they are falling apart, like crumbling, made add more frosting to the mix

Pop the cake balls in the fridge for 10 mins to firm them up. Then dip the stick into the coating and poke it into the cake ball. Then back in the fridge to let the sticks set before dipping the entire pop into the coating.

Put the cake balls in the freezer to firm them up. If you are using candy melts or almond bark, reheating won't make it more smooth, it will just cause it to seize. Try melting some shortening (crisco) and adding that to the warm candy mixture. Any liquid other than shortening will cause it to seize.

I would freeze or refrigerate the balls for a bit before putting the chocolate on.  Also,  I've had the best luck with melting chocolate wafers (as opposed to chips or the quick (qwik? Can't remember the brand name) melting chocolate).  Good luck!!

Are you using a cake pop maker or making them from scratch?

If making them from scratch, you should crumble regular cake & mix it together with frosting until it's kind of dough-like & you can physically shape it into balls. That's how traditional cake pops are made.

Also freeze the cake pops before dipping them in the candy melts.
