Can dad to be come to the baby shower?

I had my baby shower yesterday and due to the face that most of it was his family, my SO joined the party as well. We all had a great time and no one there thought it was strange that he was there, but I had a couple people today tell me that it was strange that he came. Do you think that he shouldn't have come?
