Name help!
We're expecting a boy in late May. This will be my second (I have a 5 year old son from a previous marriage) and his first. We are pretty set on David as a first name, it's a family name. My husband really wants the middle name to be Michael. We are Catholic, St. Michael was his confirmation saint and he is a retired soldier and now a police officer, so Michael is a really special name for him. HOWEVER there's one big problem for me... my ex husband's name is Michael. I think it's a fine name otherwise, but I have a hard time getting on board with giving my son my ex husband's name. Current husband really doesn't see it as a big deal. He says "that douchebag doesn't get to steal a name from us." (Ex was never a kind person, and is much less kind now that I'm expecting.)
Anyway, we're getting closer and closer to the due date and we still haven't settled. Should I let the Michael thing go, since in reality, it had nothing to do with the ex and it really is a special name to my current husband? Or should I encourage him to find another name he likes because of the stigma of giving him the same name as my ex husband can't be overlooked?
