Car seats in carts.

How do you feel about putting your caraway in shopping carts? Do you put yours in the cart or on the top part? I put mine in the cart today because my car seat isn't made to put it at the top, but everyone else I seen had their baby at the top and I was getting some side looks. So I googled and it says that it's not recommend for baby to go on top. I just wanted to know your opinions mommie. I'm a FTM by the way.
