The pill on your period

My healthprovider was really bad at explaining how & when to take it, or maybe I was just nervous that I didn't understand 🙄 but I'm almost done with my first pack. I have 1 "active" pill left before I hit the "reminder" pills but won't be getting my period til late next week. Do I take the pills & start a new pack once they're done? Do I even take any during my period?
