The pill - placebos yay or nay?

Question

Does anyone skip the week of placebo pills and just start the next pack in order to skip your period? If so were there side effects? 
If you opt to take the placebos, any particular reason you opt to?
Trying to read up on the pros / cons of skipping the placebos and my my period.

I only skip periods on rare occasions - In the case of my wedding or event where I do not want to get anything on my clothes. I also have skipped it when going away camping as I don't want the inconvenience of having a period. 
I would not skip it often though as it can be extremely bad for you.

i accidentalt skipped the placebo week and still got my period, plus i messed up my cycle in the process

I've been doing this for years. I have a period very rarely. Sometimes 3 months, sometimes up to 9. I can't stand periods, they make me very unwell and almost suicidal for various reasons, so it seems best to me I don't have them.

I would maybe look into something like the pill pack where you only have a period every 3 or 4 weeks. As others have said yes some successfully skip it however sometimes it just makes it longer or heavier.

I don't think it's the best idea and don't do it myself. Some women still bleed and sometimes for longer than their regular period would have been.
