11/03/16
My beautiful little girl arrived in the world on the 11th March :)
I was induced on the 10th using the gel due to medical reasons. I was told as a FTM the gel more than likely wouldn't work, they put it in and I was 1cm dialated.
I started having pains the next morning at 6am to their surprise. They put me in to the labour room and checked my cervix, 4cms, so they broke my water for me.
I laboured on the bed and kept asking to get in the shower, however bubs heart rate was too hard to find and they ended up having to put the coil in her head to measure her heart rate so a shower wasn't available. Bubs also had her first poo in my belly so I was on high alert.
I had a pethadine shot however never felt the effect of it other than feeling a bit out to it.
I started to beg for an epidural, I was told they would need to check my cervix and call in the doctor to confirm it was okay. I told them I didn't care and I was giving up, but with my next contraction I felt the need to push.
Bubs came down diagonally and they needed to manoeuvre her head and my perineum to get her out.
9 minutes of pushing and she was out.
I told my husband that he wasn't allowed to look down there whilst I was in labour. But when it came down to it, he asked if he could look and I told him to go for it. I was so glad that he did in the end because he was so encouraging and kept telling me how close she was to getting here - I honestly feel it helped me get through that last stage (even though it wasn't long - it felt like forever) I had all doctors and nurses come rushing in as I was crowning just incase she needed extra help due to the meconium.
Amelia was born at 12.24pm (6 hours and 24 minutes after my first contraction) no help needed and she went straight on my chest!
I had a second degree tear but they were great and talked me through what they were doing when they fixed me up.
You will all be pleased to know my vagina is feeling great and is back in working order haha
