breast milk is that not okay to you?" /> The reason I ask is because I am seriously considering trying to get myself to lactate and donate breast milk. I am 20 and yes disease free but the second I told my mom she told me to not let anyone know I am doing this because I will catch hate for it. And yes, it is completely possible to lactate if you have never had a baby. It's a process but it's possible.

Why would you catch hate...? If something where to happen to my baby (god forbid) i would pump and donate my milk

Go for it. It will be greatly appreciated. My god niece was born and she needed donated milk to help with her sugar levels. Plus her mommy was not producing enough milk for her.

I think its a great idea! Some women need help, think ovo donation and surrogacy. Its not a bad idea but it could be very helpful to the right women. Some women need help and that's ok! If you don't like it then don't do it!

I've been heavily considering doing this too but have just gotten weird looks from the couple of people I've told. I'm glad to know of someone else in the same boat. I want to donate to milk banks and maybe eventually even going somewhere to help in a poverty stricken area/country and being a wetnurse.

I'm just curious if you really know what you're getting into. You'll have to pump every 3 hours - all the time. Even at night. All the time. It's not comfortable. You'll get clogged ducts along the way and they hurt. It's a very nice thing for you to do, and I'm not criticizing, I'm just wondering if you've thought about all angles.

Is this for a job? Who are you giving this milk to? Maybe that's why your mother was against it.
