Does masturbating affect periods?

I can't figure out if my period has any relation to me getting some myself and I wanna know, does anybody have any idea?

Mine tend to start when I masturbate and often did when I'd had sex. If I do it while on my period it sometimes gets heavier for a day but stops more abruptly instead of trailing off. I'm hardly rough or anything. My only guess is that the muscle spasms from orgasming trigger it.
