Hyperthyroid?

Anyone had this or have it currently? How's your pregnancy? My midwife called me freaking out about my tsh levels. I'm normally borderline or normal. She said it was so low that I needed meds immediately. Wondering why they waited over two months to tell me this..then throw in the miscarriage factor. Please tell me your experiences...

I was diagnosed with Graves' disease while trying to conceive and I see my endocrinologist every 4 weeks (along with labs). I've been on PTU but she thinks my levels are good enough that I can stop medication in the rest of the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Although my dr will continue to do lab tests once a month. I wouldn't feel comfortable just seeing my OB with this.

I was diagnosed with Hyperparathyroidism 3yrs ago had 2 surgeries and now am on a thyroid hormone medication. I'm doing fine and so is my baby❤️💕👍

I have hashimotos I'm just medicated and levels check every 4 weeks my ob set me up with an endrocrinologist but she sucks I feel like she's dropping the ball on me but my ob said my levels are ok

If your levels are low then its hypothyroidism not hyperthyroidism. I have hypothyroidism, I got diagnosed with it in 6th grade and have been on medication ever since. They will just have to start you on mediation and monitor your levels to see if they need to adjust your dosage.

I have Graves' disease and had my thyroid removed in 2011. I take meds on a daily basis, get blood work completed by my Endocronlogist monthly and see my OB once a month. Pregnancy has been normal so far and I'm 14 1/2 weeks. Good luck!

I had Graves' disease during my last two pregnancies I was on PTU 50 mg 3 tabs 3 times a day. My levels were always too high during my pregnancies both my children were born healthy and my pregnancies had no other complications. But they usually check your TSH levels per trimester anyway so maybe that's why. Good luck

I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid after having my first (hormone change etc), but I was diagnosed with it by a private doctor (UK top specialist) as I don't meet the NHS threshold. The NHS in the UK only prescribe those half dead and do not care for preventive medicine.

So I have gone years with paying for my own treatment and don't care as my levels are stable and I feel well with the dosage I have been prescribed.

Since finding out I was pregnant the NHS have agreed to check my bloods once a month and so far my levels have stayed stable. I have been referred to an NHS consultant who I am hoping will recognise my condition (finally) and keep an eye on things alongside my private doctor.

I refuse to stop taking my meds just to be tested against NHS guidelines. My levels are low but stable and I take loads of drugs so that's enough proof as if I wasn't hyperthyroid I was be buzzing and like on speed with what I take and I'm not.

It does run in the family and my mum and sister have the same. My Mum is heavily involved with a group called Thyroid UK who lobby UK parliament. So not doctors at all but if anyone has questions then give me a shout as I'm 10 years in on this and with baby No 2 due on 10th October I'm having also worried about HGH levels and growing a healthy baby ... With all the joy that comes with extra pregnancy symptoms of being hyperthyroid!!!!

I had (and still have) this pre-pregnancy.  They're doing blood tests every time I have an appointment, both with midwife and consultant, but they don't seem overly worried so I'm trying not to think about it too much! Xx

Yes I currently have pregnancy induced hypothyroidism. I'm 16 weeks 3 days and have gained about 17 pounds. I'm on a prescribed medicine I take each morning. I suffer with constipation a lot, weight gain, fluid retention, brittle hair and nails. I didn't find out until 8 weeks and my OB had my results just never shared them with me. I actually found out though a Nurse Practitioner when I went in for symptoms of a UTI.  I try not to let it stress me about the weight gain due to the development of the baby. You have to talk to your doctor or even and endocrinologist.
