Gestational diabetes

Ugh so after waiting for weeks I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes which I had my first pregnancy but later on and was maintained by diet. I have to go in for another test in two weeks to see if I need the medication. What have you ladies experienced with having gestational diabetes throughout your pregnancy. Was your little one born with any health issues? Did you have problems during labor? Just curious considering I only had it for a few weeks last time.
