Deaf mommies?
Is anyone here who's deaf or HI? I'm hearing impaired but totally deaf without my cochlear implants. I'm pregnant with my first child and is my Hubby's first to. He's full hearing.. I do speak verbally English and fluently in ASL. My biggest fear is not hearing my baby at night and my husband not being alert like he should and get up.. How did you do it? My best friend had her first 5 years ago, she used a high power deaf baby monitor that vibrates, I spent one night with her and I slept in the same bed with her, she gave me a baby monitor and turned it up highest it could go. I slept through the night and jumped up next morning at 7am. Both her and her daughter was asleep. 2 hours later, she woke me up to help feed her daughter while she showers. I ask if she woke up the previous night, she said yes. I was like wow, & I didn't feel the monitor and she completely deaf, I have more hearing percentage than her. She told me and everyone else, once I have my baby, my mother nature will kick in and I will be more alert and I'm not alert with her baby BC she wasn't my child.
I'm still worried!
