Nothing is better - birth story *induction*
Saturday 4/9/16 - We got to the hospital around 1pm after we ate a good lunch. My doctor wanted to check my fluids because they had been low on my due date appointment, which I left, defeated. On Saturday, When we checked they were dangerously low and it was time to be induced. We were so happy because we knew we were going home with our baby. The nurse put an IV in my arm to start fluids and immediately, I faint. Now I am the talk of the hospital. Or at least labor and delivery.
I started drinking some medication to become effaced. But it brought on contraction pains that just got worse with time. Eventually the pain for so bad and I felt like I was being sawed in half in a magic show. I screamed and screamed and the doctors offered me some pain meds which really didn't help me. I started to wonder why I was the only one on the floor making this much noise and in this much pain. None of the nurses seemed to think I was some unique case.
My doctor came in around 6am and told me if the pain was that bad that I could get an epidural but I was nowhere near labor. She said that it might slow things down but at least I would be comfortable. I got the epidural and immediately got relief. I decided to sleep for hours. When I woke up from a few naps and some messed up games of Candy Crush Saga, they checked me and were in shock that I was 9cm. The doctor came in and said it was almost time to push.
Things were getting real.
After three hours of pushing the doctor gave me the option of using a vacuum because I was losing strength. I got her to crowning and we used the vacuum. She came out and the sense of relief I had was so great. My husband assured me that she was perfect and within seconds she was in my arms. All of those rules I had about my husband not looking went out the window and I'm glad that they did because he felt so much more connected to the birth. It might have taken 28 hours but it was worth every second and I would do it again for Harley Max. 7 lbs 20 inches 4/10 at 9:55 pm. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
