Waiting to find out gender?

Question

My husband and I are considering waiting until birth to find out the gender of this 1st baby of ours. Has anyone else decided to do this? Mommas with older kids, when you found out the gender of your baby did it make you feel more connected to them during the pregnancy? I would love to hear thoughts from both sides!

I wanted to find out but my husband didn't. After thinking about it I decided to join in his decision and not find out. It will be so exciting when delivering.

With my first pregnancy, I just knew in my heart from the beginning I was having a girl. I had dreams of a girl, I always felt it was a girl. So I wasn't surprised when we found out at the anatomy US! I totally am impatient and couldn't wait - and I wanted to buy everything ahead of time. I felt more connected and I know my husband did too. This pregnancy I have NO clue what I'm having, I don't even have a guess. So I am feeling pretty impatient for when we find out! I love knowing what I'm carrying, and while I think it's awesome to wait and be surprised, I don't have the patience!! 😂

My reasons for wanting to wait are:
• letting this baby grow without us projecting our own predictions on their persona
• Family might feel less inclined to buy extreme boy/girl themed items which I'm not into
• We wouldn't have a theme nursery anyway
• Might take some pressure off of needing to have everything "perfect" & ready when bb arrives 
• I'm onery and I know our families really really want to know 😂

I had always wanted to wait, but my husband won me with his argument of being able to plan and purchase things with the gender in mind. It will be a surprise whenever you find out.

With my first, I just KNEW she was a girl. I knew what she was going to look and act like. Well you can imagine having that strong of an intuition and it turning out to be wrong in delivery day would be uhhhm surprising. So I felt pretty confident that I needed to find out via US.

It ended up my intuition was spot on! I was very bonded to my daughter because I could sense her personality and she had a name. I even became ultra feminine during my pregnancy with her. I started liking pastel colors (blehk) and flowery stuff.

This time around, 22years later, I was into waiting. It doesn't matter to me at all but my husband wants to be prepared! That being said, I've already started calling him a "he". Only boy names are appealing to me and I can't even fathom having a girl. It's unimaginable. So again, I would feel like a giant hee-haw not "knowing" in a more clinical way.

I have to say that I'm not sure I want to share our news. Let everyone else find out when the baby is born. It is kinda fun it being a secret. But like I already said, I say "he and him"...it will be very obvious.

This is our first kid and we are waiting! It almost seems like it's strange since we are not finding out, there are a lot of gender reveal parties on my Instagram right now! My husband has 4 kids from a previous marriage and he never found out what they were! I'm actually excited for the surprise!! 😊
