Waiters and Waitresses.

Not entirely sure this should go here but...

I saw a post earlier about fast food workers wanting $15 an hour, that was an uproar.

So, since we're on the topic of raising wages, can we talk about servers?

I've been waiting tables for 4 years and absolutely love my job, but why is servers hourly wage (in my state at least) only $2.13?

I understand that we get tipped but that's not guaranteed, sometimes regardless of the service given. I know people who don't believe in tipping at all..

Making $2.13 an hour, most of my checks are less than $100. Way less. Next time you go out to eat and think it's okay not to tip, ask yourself, "Can I pay my bills making $2.13 an hour?" If the answer is yes, I applaud you, you're doing better than I am.
